Ricardo Alevizos has found his fitting form of expression in the most classical genre, the portrait. Nevertheless, his portraits are far from classical. In 2008, Fine Arts TV described its colors and stage settings closer to the expressionism than to the ornament.
Although Ricardo’s style is quite diverse, his search and challenge remain: to catch in a frame that glimpse of truth we all hide behind our daily masks. Layers of affection, fear, sadness, compassion, depression, anger – the feelings we all share as humans and hide as a natural defense are the raw material which Ricardo endeavors to uncover and bring to the surface, intermingling them with his own feelings, states of mind and forms of expression.
Enjoy the portraits as if you were meeting a new friend – appreciate the exuberance and peculiarity on a first glance and take the time to deepen your understanding, to recognize yourself in them.
